What is an Air Gap faucet?
An Air Gap faucet dispenses water like standard Non-Air Gap faucets, but includes an integrated drip venting mechanism built into the base. This backflow prevention design protects reverse osmosis (RO) drinking systems by allowing air, rather than drain water, to flow back if a drain line clog ever occurs.
Do I need an Air Gap faucet?
All RO systems can technically function with either type. However, the requirement is dictated by your local municipal plumbing and building codes rather than the filtration unit itself. Check local plumbing code requirements in your area to determine compliance.
