Lead Free/Low Lead

Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act that went into effect in 2014 was a new law redefining "lead-free" or "low lead" under the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974. This new law states that no more than a weighted average of 0.25% lead when used with respect to the wetted surfaces of pipes, pipe fittings, plumbing fittings and fixtures. Product labels displaying "low lead" or "lead free" are equivalent and conform to the new law.
